More More More Cars and Coffee Pictures
I have a wonderful father who loves both CARS and COFFEE. So he comes every Saturday morning and takes great pictures of all the classics, exotics and rarities that roar into our parking lot. I post selections of his pictures to our Facebook page and my father regularly updates his photography page with pictures from Cars and Coffee. These will give you a nice preview of what's commonly hanging outside our shop on Saturday mornings! Join us every Saturday morning from 7:00 am - 9:00 am!
A Real Buzz Chill: Cool Down with Iced Coffee
"The first step in making a great cup of iced coffee isn't to fill your glass with Joe. It's to fill it with ice, all the way to the rim. 'The more ice, the less water in your drink," says Giorgio Milos, the New York-based North American barista-in-residence for revered Italian coffee brand Illy. "If you just put coffee in a cup with two ice cubes, the cubes dissolve immediately. But put coffee in a cup with 10 of them, and it chills down faster.'"

SUNNY WITH A CHANCE OF CARS AND COFFEE!!
This Saturday, April 30th is supposed to be sunny with highs in the low 70s and lows in the low 50s. There is a 0% chance of precipitation and sunrise is supposed to be at 6:13 am. You know what that means? The perfect day for Cars and Coffee!! From 7:00 am - 9:00 am this Saturday, and every Saturday as long as there is nice weather, Katie's Cars and Coffee will be in full swing! This year the Farmer's Market has moved which allows even more room for you to park your antique, exotic, performance or otherwise interesting car. Hang out and drink great coffee and snack on delicious pastries while talking to like minded individuals about all things CAR! There will be signage pointing out our building and designated parking as well as an outdoor cash only table selling drip coffee and pastries so you never have to go inside! We look forward to seeing you all there! If you have any questions please feel free to call us at 703-759-2759! Check out the event page here.

"It's too hot for coffee!"
NEVER!
Also as we move into the dog days of summer don't forget about Katie's Cars and Coffee on Saturday mornings from 7:00 am - 9:00 am in our parking lot! Bring out your classic, exotic, fun or rare car and park it out front so you can chat it up with other guys and gals interested in everything car related. The past few Saturdays have had some dismal weather but we're still here making coffee so you're still welcome to come out and show what's been hiding in your garage! So stop into Katie's and grab an Island Oasis smoothie to keep you cool while you check out all the hot cars outside!

Coming to Terms...
Espresso
(1 to 1.5 oz) of fine grind coffee that is pressurized to extract all the flavor components from the coffee bean. This extraction process includes the crema layer that resonates from the oils. Most brewed coffee is single origin, from a single region. Illy Espresso blends the best beans from countries along equatorial region.
Caffe' Latte
Espresso mixed with steamed milk; usually a breakfast drink - Typically made with more milk than a cappuccino, with little or no foam on top. Proportions are 1 part Espresso to 3 parts milk.
Cappuccino
Espresso with foamed milk - 1 part espresso, 1 part steamed milk, 1 part foam
Wet Cappuccino is topped with equal parts of steamed and foamed milk. A dry cappuccino is topped with all foamed milk. The milk is foamed/steamed prior to the espresso extraction, allowing the foam to set, or jell. The foam topping is shaped to form a peak (cap) on the cappuccino.
Macchiatto
Espresso "stained" with a dollop of steamed milk on top. The espresso forms a ring around the circle of milk.
Caffe' au Lait
Drip coffee topped with steamed milk
Americano
Two shots of espresso over a 6 oz cup of hot water. Crema will float on top.
Mocha
Like a Caffe' Latte, but chocolate is added during the process of steaming the milk
Side note for the traveling espresso enthusiast
Travel to Italy and ask for a "Latte"... the waiter will return with a tall glass of chilled milk. Also, locals in the country never drink espresso with milk after 10am.
At Katie's Coffee House you can be sure to enjoy anyone of our espresso drinks, crafted to perfection, anytime from the morning to the mid afternoon.
Cheers!

Why Illy Espresso?
When owner Mike Kearney made a decision to bring the best Espresso to Great Falls Village, his first and final inclination was Illy.
Illy has a distinct yet consistent flavor profile. Like a glass of wine, the espresso has many character notes. Tastes of chocolate, and caramel, along with a balance of sweet, bitter, and smokey. Our espresso produces a great line of "crema" which enables some of the characteristic art work that we have been mastering lately; just check out some Elizabeth's famous shots!
Illy is also an exemplary company in sustainability. Illy works directly with farmers in places like Africa, Central America, Brazil and India, to ensure market value, quality, consistency, and environmental safeguards. For more information about sustainability, visit Illy's site: http://www.illy.com/wps/wcm/connect/us/illy/about-illy/sustainability/
At Katie's Coffee House, we produce a great array of caffe lattes and drinks, from a pure original like a dopio espresso to a Beso De Kiri. We take great pride and place emphasis on fresh ground beans, quality extraction, distinct aroma, and consistent taste.
Cheers,

Did you know?
...America had its first coffeehouse in Boston, in 1676?
Coffee, tea and beer were often served together in establishments which functioned both as coffeehouses and taverns; one such was the Green Dragon in Boston, where John Adams, James Otis and Paul Revere planned rebellion.
Katie's Coffee House brings together the best of the old traditions with new ones. In conjunction with the Old Brogue Irish Pub, Katie's Coffee House is a great place to enjoy an espresso while assembling with the best people in the Great Falls community.
Please note that at this time, there are no active discussions on planned rebellions...

Hellloooo from Hawaii!!
Even here in Hawaii I miss steaming cappuccinos! I miss my wonderful co workers and customers! I love my job and can't wait o get back and ask if you need room for cream in that?!!! Xox Kiri
Ya know it really shows..
that you trust your barista when you ask them to make you WHATEVER they want! We have so many flavors at Katie's and most of them go unused. Next time you come in you should just ask for a "Dealer's Choice" latte. Some of the combinations that we come up with for ourselves are really fun, different and most importantly DELICIOUS! Have a little adventure in your morning! They say that changing up your routine can help you keep your brain super sharp. Have some fun with flavors!!

Having a night cap with Annie and talking about how excited we are for cars and coffee at katies! We love how many new and interesting people come in and being able to share that experience with others is very exciting and special! We are also excited to see some cars and coffee regulars again like Taco! No drizzle on the second large hot chocolate!! It really is amazing how much chocolate we go through the first two hours of warm Saturday mornings! Can't wait to start back up and enjoy a hectic morning with car guys and their families! Xox Kiri!!!
